Pablo Picasso fits in this gallery because he took his artwork and presented it to a group of Surrealists which then he got the chance to express himself emotionally through his art, releasing the violence. His goal was to create art as beautiful as the chance encounter. He applied the concept of surrealism to the aspects of some of his art pieces.

Background

Pablo Picasso was born October 25, 1881 in Spain. Pablo was shown his artistic talent since early childhood. When he was 13 he entered the Barcelona Academy of Art, at 16 he was sent to Madrid for another school of art. He was married with Olga Khokhlova and had a son in 1921. Remarried in 1961 to Jacqueline Roque, who took care of him till his death. Picasso died April 8, 1973, he left more than 80,000 paintings.

Girl Before A Mirror 1932

This painting portrays the mistress and model of Pablo Picasso from 1927-1935. Girl before mirror portrays her as a beautiful with makeup on the left side and on the right she is darkened with round and hollow eye, her feminine body is twisted and contorted. It also imply her transition from an innocent girl to a woman aware of her sexuality.

Le Rêve 1932 (the dream)

This painting also portrays Picasso's mistress. She often appears as blonde, sunny, and bright in his paintings. The way her face is painted in an odd way is what makes this painting fit this category. La Rêve (the dream) was sold for 155 million making it the 5th expensive painting ever sold during this time.

Portrait of Dora Maar, 1937

Dora Maar is a new woman that came into Picasso's life in 1936. In this portrait she is presented seating in an armchair, smiling, and resting her head on a long fingered hand. The face is shown in both frontal and profile view with her eyes facing different directions. The deformation serve an expressive purpose, the idea is to make reality less than to express its possibilities.

The Three Dancers 1925

This painting is one of Picasso's first Surrealistic work, in which he proves harmony by algebra by breaking the human body into pieces and reassembling it using unique patterns born in his head.It was inspired by memories of the death of two fellow artists friends that died in a love triangle.
